Wolin National Park

The well-developed tourist national park protects the ecologically extremely valuable northwestern part of Wolin, the largest Polish island. The landscape of this marine nature park is extremely varied. In addition to hills such as Grzywacz, Gosań, Kikut, or Kawcza, which offer a great view of the coast or the Stettiner Haff, there are many lakes and extensive forest areas.

On the sea side, there is a fascinating cliff coast, and the 15 km long cliff reaches a height of up to 95 meters. In the southern park area, there are well-preserved beech forests, including an orchid beech forest. Well-marked trails with a total length of over 60 kilometers await hikers.

Particularly worthwhile is a hike to the viewpoint at Türkissee (Jezioro Turkusowe), from which you can enjoy magnificent views of the lake and its surroundings.

Another attraction is the bison enclosure, where red deer, wild boars, or the white-tailed eagle, the emblem of the national park, also live in the wild.

Kamień Pomorski

Kamień Pomorski, one of the oldest towns in Western Pomerania, is located on the Bay of Kamień Pomorski, only about 8 km from the coast. The Dziwna, one of the three estuary arms of the Oder, connects the town with the Baltic Sea and the Szczecin Lagoon .

Kamień Pomorski is located on the Romanesque Road and you can immerse yourself in a medieval atmosphere here. Particularly noteworthy are the Cathedral of St. John, from whose tower you have a beautiful view of the town and its marina as well as the lagoon landscape, the late Gothic town hall in the middle of the marketplace, and the 36 m high late Gothic city gate, which houses a regional museum.

You can take a nice walk along the medieval city wall with its towers, gates, and moat.

Turquoise Lake

Located between Międzyzdroje and Lubin, near the village of Wapnica, is the Turquoise Lake, which originated from former limestone mining. The bluish-green color, created by the clear water, the high lime content, and the reflections of the chalk rock, is very impressive in the right light.

There is a parking lot (chargeable in the season) and some gastronomic offers. Idyllic hiking trails lead around the lake. A particularly beautiful hike is to the viewpoint at Góra Piaskowa, from which you can enjoy a great view of the lake.

Also worth a visit is the Wzgórza Zielonka, from which you can overlook the Swine delta and parts of the Szczecin Lagoon.

Kikut Lighthouse

The lighthouse of the Kikut natural stone lighthouse, built in 1860, is located north of Wisełka and is 91.5 m above sea level, making it the highest lighthouse in Poland.

The idyllic location in the national park gives this place its charm. From the parking lot in the village, there is a scenic hike of about 3 kilometers through the coastal forest to the tower and the beach.

Unfortunately, the lighthouse itself is not open to visitors, so the beautiful path leading to it and the architecture of the lighthouse from the outside are a sufficiently satisfying destination.

Wolin

Wolin, the main town of the eponymous largest Polish island, has a history dating back to the Viking Age. Worth seeing are the town hall and the Church of St. Nicholas. The regional museum houses a small but fine collection of prehistoric relics.

A central part of the museum concept is participation and interaction. At the beginning of August, the three-day Viking festival takes place in the complex.
